Renting a car or a motorbike is a good way of discovering the country, especially if you have intentions of travelling outside Dili (Díli). A number of transports are available, including buses, mikrolets and taxis. Prices should be discussed with the drivers before the trip. This is also a way of getting from town to town.
A ferry connects Dili (Díli), Ataúru (Ataúro) Island and the Oekusi (Oecussi) Enclave. You can arrange a boat drive with local fishermen to and around Jaku (Jaco) Island and even a delicious grilled fish prepared by them on the beach after the boat ride.
