The Western Border Tour

This one day tour will take you along the shores of the north coast all the way to the border with the western part of the Timor island. Leave early in the morning heading to Likisá (Liquiçá) pass the Tasi-tolu lakes and Tibar, just outside the capital. Do a stopover at Likisá (Liquiçá) to visit this lovely fishing village and also to have a morning swim at its beach.
Less than one hour away stop at Maubara with its red-coloured lagoon and the traditional handcrafts such as basketry and bamboo markets along the main road.
Before Batugadé stop at the sacred Bemalai Lake where people are allowed to fish only once a year in a nationally popular event. In Batugadé visit the old Portuguese garrison near the border and proceed to Balibó. Have a midday break and begin your journey back, this time taking your time to stop at some of the beaches along the coast.
